
Roy Patton Brown, age 85, of Northport, died May 28, 2012, at Heritage Health Care. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Tindle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Patton Brown and Elma Brown.
Survivors include his wife, Elcia "Sue" Brown; his daughters, Rita Brackner (Gary) and Jeaniese Boswell (Steve); his son, Roy Daniel "Danny" Brown (Tina); his sister, Mable Gilbert; his brothers, Jack, George, and Robert Brown; his grandchildren, Angela Caffee, Kelli Cox, Ethan Boswell, Brooke Beverley, Caleb Brown, and Samuel Brown; and his great-grandchildren, John Hayden Caffee, Ava Brook Caffee, and Christian Scott Beverley.
Mr. Brown was a faithful employee of Partlow State School for 47 years. He was a man of few words and great faith. A devoted husband and loving father, he was loved and respected by everyone who knew him. He served our country in the U.S. Air Force from 1945 to 1954.
Pallbearers will be Ethan Boswell, Gary Brackner, Greg Caffee, Cary Beverley, Caleb Brown, and Steve Boswell.
Honorary pallbearers are nurses and staff of Heritage Health Care and members of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
