

Ruby L. Thomas, age 83, of Northport, died Aug. 2, 2012, at home. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Larry Colburn, Bro. Terrell Jones, and Bro. Jerry Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Modie Keeth; her son, Jerry D. Thomas; her sister, Marie Bigham; her brother, Raford Keeth; her daughter-in-law, Margaret N. Thomas; and her brothers-in-law, Gene Graves and Melvin Phillips.
Survivors include her loving husband of 67 years, Dewey Thomas; her daughters, Sandra T. Sharp (Mike) and Sharon T. Farley (James); her son, Jimmy C. Thomas; her sisters, Ruth Ann Smelley, Bernice Colburn, and Shirley Graves; her brothers, J.T. Keeth and Bobby Keeth; her grandchildren, Tamalon S. Stroup, Michelle Randolph, Heather T. Prewitt, Tracy Lindsey, Tommy Kizziah, Jason Thomas, Jeremy Sharp, Emily Corkerin, Nikki Pritchett, Sky Wheat, Jessica Smith Farley, Sara Thomas, and Seth Thomas; and her great-grandchildren, William Stroup, Taylor Stroup, Christopher Cook, Jade Evans, Lucas Randolph, Dustin Randolph, Kohl Randolph, Desirae Kneussle, Sadie Kneussle, Lacie Nail, Grayson Wheat, Delana Kizziah, Elbie Corkerin, Bryleigh Wheat, James Dawson Kizziah, Chaz Corkerin, and Hyland Wheat.
Mother was born September 9, 1928, in Fayette County, Alabama to Bill and Modie Keeth. She married Dewey Thomas on August 11, 1945, in Tuscaloosa, and they had 67 wonderful, loving years together. She was a precious, devoted mother of four children and adored her “grands”. Mother loved to sew and cook for her family.
Pallbearers will be Jason Thomas, Jeremy Sharp, Seth Thomas, Scott Stroup, Ken Colburn, and Tommy Phillips.
