Ruth Hollingsworth Tucker

Ruth Hollingsworth Tucker of Northport, AL, passed away peacefully on Nov. 18, 2025, at the age of 95. She was born in 1930 to Ila and Arthur Hollingsworth, and was raised in Samantha, AL. Ruth graduated from Gorgas High School and Birmingham Secretarial College in the late 1940s. She returned to Tuscaloosa to work and met her husband, Ira (Tuck) Tucker, to whom she was married for 65 years. They moved to Northport where they raised their family and became early members of the Northwood Hills Baptist Church where they worshipped and served for well over 50 years.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was predceded in death by seven of her nine siblings and their spouses; Nancy (Belvie) Broughton, A.J. Hollingsworth, Gilbert (Miriam) Hollingsworth, Glenda Mae Hollingsworth, Bura (Alta) Hollingsworth, Darwin Hollingsworth, Lawrence Barrett and Tresha Joy Hollingsworth; and niece, Linda Thomas.

She is survived by her daughter, Sally Tucker Price, and sons, Tom (Becky) Tucker and Brian (Mary Lou) Tucker; grandchildren, Matthew (Beth) Price, Griffin (Kaycee) Price, Kathryn (Zac) Hanson, Ross (Amanda) Tucker, Robert (Candace) Tucker, Will (Kirsten) Tucker, and Mary Ruth Tucker; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Elijah and Joanna Price, Shepherd, Junia, Abraham, Lucille and Quincy Hanson, Liam and Ethan Tucker, Bennett and Owen Tucker; sisters, Sondra Barrett and Beverly (Herman) Pinion; sister-in-law, Patsy Hollingsworth and a city full of nieces and nephews.

Receiving of friends by the family will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Northwood Hills Baptist Church, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m with Pastor Rusty Selman officiating. A family burial service will be held earlier in the day. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Northwood Hills Baptist Church Building Fund, 3463 AL Hwy. 69, Northport, AL, 35473. The family of Ruth Tucker is especially grateful to the employees of Capstone Village for the loving care she has received during her past five years of living there.
