Shirley R. Cunningham

Shirley R. Cunningham, age 82 passed away on Monday, January 25, 2021. Shirley was born May 13, 1938. Visitation will be at Yellow Creek Baptist Church from 2 pm until 2:30pm. Service will be at Yellow Creek Baptist Church at 2:30 pm. Sunset Brown - Service Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, in charge of arrangements.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband J.W. Cunningham; parents Shafer and Onia Lee (Clark) Dockins, brothers Clifton (Joyce), Pete (Ann), and Billy (Lena) Dockins and sisters Ala Mae Stevenson (Mark), Rhudene Evertt (Darrel), Ruby Davis (Sid) and beloved baby sister Vernice Crawford (Benny),

Shirley is survived by her nephew (who was like a son) Tony Crawford (Shelia); grandchildren: Jeremy Crawford (Michelle), Kassie Hunter (Ross); great-grandchildren: Kinleigh Hunter, Josie hunter, Astrid Crawford and numerous nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.

Shirley was a dedicated wife, aunt and grandmother who devoted her life to her family and was always there for them in difficult times. Always ready to offer help. She would bring meals to sick family members and neighbors. Shirley would ensure the any animal or child would find safety and love with her. A warm and caring soul, soft spoken and tender hearted. She had a way of welcoming others into her home with a kind smile and friendly embrace. Shirley was a nurturing and caring woman, and a talented Gardner and we take comfort in knowing she is helping tend Heaven’s garden with the angels.

Honorary pallbearers are Morning Pointe of Tuscaloosa staff and residents, Dr. Miller, Dr. Corder and staff of the DCH Trauma Center and ICU and Yellow Creek Baptist Church.
