Kobe Alan Nguyen, 25, of Canoga Park, CA, passed away on June 14, 2024. He was born on March 19, 1999 to Kevin Nguyen and Tina Nguyen in Tarzana, CA. After graduating from Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies (SOCES) in 2017 and receiving a scholarship from the Alliance of Asian Pacific Administrators, he went on to study Computer Science at California State University, Northridge (CSUN), where he served as president of the Vietnamese Student Association (VSA). After graduating, he started his first job at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) as a Computer Analyst and enrolled in a Master's program in Computer Science at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), which he completed in December 2023.
Kobe was passionate about community service, which he demonstrated through his work at VSA and as a Vovinam instructor. At home, he was the family's designated doer as he was so handy and reliable. He loved playing board games and took great care in curating the perfect selection depending on the group he was with. He enjoyed trying new recipes and was an excellent cook. He was also an innovator, inventing new gadgets to support the mechanical keyboard community and freely sharing his blueprints.
Kobe will always be remembered for his kindness, generosity, laughter, leadership, and love he had for all of his family and friends. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Nguyễn Văn Dung; his maternal grandfather, Nguyễn Văn Hơn; and his maternal uncle Nguyễn Tuấn Kiệt. Kobe is survived by his father, Kevin Nguyen; his mother, Tina Nguyen; his older sister, Amy Nguyen; her husband Christian Butcher; their daughter Lucy Butcher Nguyen; his older brother, Vincent Nguyen; his wife Kimberly Nguyen; their daughter Lyanna Nguyen; and his girlfriend Tiffany Van.
