Pauline (DeNicholas) Fox, 77, a longtime resident of Reseda, California, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, late in the afternoon on Saturday, March 12, 2016 following a year long battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family when she passed on.
Pauline was born on Halloween in 1938 to James and Corrine (Mercure) DeNicholas in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. She was the last of 12 children. In her teens, Pauline and family moved to Van Nuys, California.
Pauline met Anthony Hugh Fox whom she married in 1956. Together they had seven children: Elaine Shannon (Patrick); Carol Fiore (David); Paula Hopper (Samuel); Anthony James Fox (Edith Folsom); Mary Tenuta (Roger); Christine Allen (Bryan); and, Jonathan Fox (Courtney Kirkhuff). Pauline and Anthony were blessed with 24 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A dedicated, loyal, and faithful wife and mother, Pauline had the good fortune to be a stay-at-home mom. A staunch and devout Catholic, she kept her faith before her always. She was heavily involved in religious education and served as the Director of Religious Education at St. Bridget of Sweden in Van Nuys for several years. In recent years, Pauline served as a Sacristan at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Winnetka. She and Anthony also served the Church and it’s community several hours per week by working for the St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry based at St. Joseph the Worker. Providing food for the poor was a ministry near and dear to Pauline’s heart.
Family traditions were very important to Pauline. Getting together at Easter, the Fourth of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas with family was cherished throughout her marriage. She made it a point to be at the baptisms, graduations, weddings and other memorable occasions of not only her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but those of her many nieces and nephews. Her birthday calendar was overflowing and her home-made cards with her personal touch will be missed.
A memorial service for Pauline is scheduled for Saturday, April 2, 2016 at St. Joseph the Worker Church, located at 19855 Sherman Way in Winnetka. Fr. Kevin Rettig will preside at the Mass. A burial service will follow immediately thereafter at Oakwood Memorial Park and Cemetery, 22601 Lassen St. in Chatsworth followed by a reception at the Radisson Hotel, 9777 Topanga Cyn. Bl. in Chatsworth.
