William Alexander passed away peacefully on Valentine’s Day, Sunday, February 14th, 2016 with his family at his side. A resident of West Hills, California, he passed away at the age of 81. Born of Greek decent to immigrants Alexandros and Sophia Alexandris in Alton, Illinois on August 26, 1934 and the older brother to Cristina Dwiggins. He was a man who lived his faith, loved his family and community, and had a passion for education.
He was a graduate of Missouri School of Mines with a baccalaureate in electrical engineering and a member of Lambda Chi Epsilon Fraternity. His postgraduate studies were at UCLA. He started out working for Emerson Electric in St. Louis, Missouri. His love for sunny weather led him to work for Litton Industries in Canoga Park, CA, for over 40 years as an electrical engineer and program manager.
William met his wife Fay Lampros at the Assumption Church in St. Louis in 1958. They were married on February 25, 1962 and began their life together. They had three children Alexis, Dina, and Sophia. Both William’s daughters married. Dina is married to Greg Karathanas with daughter Rebecca. Sophia married Mathew Stasinis with sons William and Nicholas.
He was quiet man with a generous soul who lived a full life filled with faith and love. His beloved wife Fay, his devoted children, their spouses, and grandchildren survive him.
The Trisagion will be at 7:30 pm on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Bastian & Perrott, Oswald Mortuary in Northridge, CA. Funeral services will at 10:00 am on Friday, February 19, 2016 at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Northridge. The family is hosting a luncheon directly following the funeral services. Burial will be at Oakwood Memorial Park in Chatsworth, CA at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 19, 2016.
