Norwich-Benjamin J. Kustesky, age 85, passed away surrounded by his loving family at Beechwood Manor in New London on April 7, 2024. He was born in Norwich on November 5, 1938, to the late Benjamin and Jeannette (Dubreuil) Kustesky.
Benjamin grew up in Norwich, graduating from NFA in 1956. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Norris. Ben married the love of his life, Sheila, and shared 53 years together before her passing in 2010. After working for 20 years in the home improvement business, he worked at Pfizer for 18 years before his retirement. Ben enjoyed playing cards, especially Cribbage, and thanks to his friend Marge, he held season tickets at Dodd Stadium for years. He was an avid bowler and a loyal Red Sox fan.
Ben is survived by his brother Thomas G. Kustesky of Morgantown, North Carolina, two sisters Elizabeth A. Blau of Gales Ferry and Margaret A. Lewis (Cameron) of New London, as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, his brother Stanley of Petersburg, VA, and his sister Jeanne Schute of Occum.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 18th at 10 AM at St. Patrick Cathedral, Broadway, Norwich. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Boswell Ave., Norwich. Please visit www.labenskifuneralhome.com to leave an online condolence for Benjamin’s family.
