

Betty was born February 2, 1928 in Norwich, the daughter of the late Oliver and Niola (Watson) Brooks.
She worked in food service at the Franklin Elementary School and then at the William W. Backus Hospital.
Betty was a member of the Grange and 4H, where she earned several blue ribbons and a trip to Chicago for a suit she had made. She loved playing Bingo, as well as watching old Western movies. She enjoyed cross stitching and especially enjoyed traveling throughout New England, the Grand Tetons, Yellowstone National Park, the Grand Canyon and Florida, Disney World and Hawaii.
She is survived by her son Lyle Johnson and wife Christine, daughter Linda Dutcher and her significant other Rick, sister Jean Johnson, by her grandchildren Jessica Bonchuck and husband Scott, Charles Dutcher Jr. and wife Crystal, Christopher Dutcher and husband Tim, by her great grandchildren Nathan Tetreault, Samuel Bonchuk, Lucianna Bonchuk, Jason Johnson Jr., Courtney Marie Johnson, Charles Dutcher III, Alan O’Hara, Theresa O’Hara, Jennifer O’Hara, Joshua Doubleday, Benjamin Dutcher-Reitz, by numerous great-great grandchildren and by many nieces and nephews to whom she was especially close.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Lyle Johnson Jr., by her brother Russell Brooks, and by her grandchildren Jason Johnson and Cynthia Dutcher.
A funeral home service will be held at the Church and Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem St. Norwich on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at 12 pm. Visitation will be held one hour prior from 11 am to 12pm. Burial will immediately follow the service in Plains Cemetery in Franklin.
