

WATERFORD- Cynthia A. Carano, 45, of Waterford, CT passed away suddenly February 13, 2009 at L&M Hospital in New London. She was born in Providence, RI on December 20, 1963, the beloved daughter of Joseph and Julia (Saviano) Carano.
Cynthia was an elementary school teacher in Connecticut for 23 plus years; she started in the town of Sterling for a year then to Preston Veteran’s Memorial School for the last 22 years. She taught first and third grade and also was the coordinator of the Gifted and Talented Program during its grant period. Cynthia was a reading teacher, Language Arts teacher and Literature teacher for grades 7 and 8. In addition to her professional employment, Cynthia served as a consultant and presenter for the CT Dept. of Education’s “Beginning Education Support Training” (BEST) and a mentor for student teachers during their training at Preston Veteran’s Memorial School.
Cynthia was a graduate of Norwich Free Academy, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and English from Assumption College, Worcester, MA; Master of Arts degree in Education Psychology and Gifted Education from the University of CT and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Intermediate Administration from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT.
Cynthia is survived by her parents Joseph and Julia Carano of Norwich, CT; her sister Gina Carano of Uncasville, CT; her brother Carl Carano and his wife Colleen and her nephew Joseph R. Carano all of Waterford,
Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at the Church & Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem St., Norwich, CT from 4-8pm. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
