Norwich-Donald P. Exley, 83, of Norwich, passed away with his family by his side Friday, Sept. 17, 2021 after a long courageous battle with an illness. He was born in Occum on January 6, 1938 to Matthew and Flora Exley. He was the loving and devoted husband of Patricia Exley for 61 years.
He is survived by his wife Patricia, his daughter Geraldine Grossomanides and her husband George, daughter-in-law Betty Exley, grandchildren Jessica Boada, Chloe Exley, and Jaxon Exley as well as brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son Jeffrey Exley, his parents, and his siblings Ernest, George, Gerard, Matthew Jr., Alice, Claire, Doreen, Dorothy, Patricia and Rita.
He was a devoted husband, father and friend. He worked for Pfizer for 33 years. He was a member and past president of Trout Unlimited, a NASCAR and racing fan, and a fan of the Green Bay Packers.
The family would like to thank his caregivers that provided loving care to him at home. The family would also like to thank friends Dave Taylor and Jerry Pearl.
Calling hours will be held at Church and Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem St., Norwich on Saturday October 2nd from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 1:00 p.m. As per the family’s request, everyone is required to wear a mask, and will be denied entry without one.
