Ed was born on May 28, 1947 in Adams, Massachusetts to Edward E. and Marie (Kaigle) Bourdon. Ed was a proud U.S. Navy veteran having served on the USS Arlington during the Vietnam war and later he retired after 20+ years as a rigger at Electric Boat. He was a member of the Moose Lodge 950 in Bozrah. Ed was a loyal fan of New England sports teams, and especially enjoyed UCONN basketball. He and his brother Bernie went to several of the Final Four Championship games to watch the UCONN women's team compete as well as College Football National Championship games. Ed was an avid outdoorsman and spent much of his free time hunting and fishing. The last several years Ed could often be found in the Poker room at the Casino. Ed was known for his creativity and handiwork, always having a project in progress around the house, but he was most known for his deep love of family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In 1984, he married the love of his life, Theresa (DeBartolo) Bourdon and they spent the next 38 years creating wonderful memories together and with family by participating in activities such as bowling and dart leagues, playing cards, annual trips to Sebago Lake, going on cruises, and hosting cookouts.
He will be sadly missed but always remembered with love by his wife Theresa; children Michael Bourdon, Gail McCool, Richard Spielvogel Jr. and his wife Marlene, Robert Spielvogel and his wife Bette; grandchildren Michaela Bourdon, Michael Bourdon Jr, David McCool, Steven McCool, Christian McCool and his wife Melissa, Kyrie McCool, Richard Spielvogel III, Chelsea Ward, Andrew Spielvogel and his wife Ally, Robert Spielvogel Jr; great-grandchildren Brenden McCool, John Horwath, Richard Spielvogel IV, Nate Ward, Charli Ward, Nick Ward, Aiden Spielvogel, Zaria Spielvogel, Rylee James; brother Bernie Bourdon and his wife Barbara; sister Barbara Zepka and her husband Eugene; his nieces, nephews and many others who had the opportunity to share good times with him.
