Henry E. Cagle

Henry was born in Carthage, NC on August 12, 1929 to the late Arthur and Lilly May (Dowd) Cagle. On Aug. 11th, 1950, he married his beloved bride, Odessa (Russell) in South Carolina. She predeceased him on Oct. 13, 2015.

Henry worked hard and supported his family of 14 children and was a devoted member of Evans Memorial AME Zion Church in Norwich where he was an Exhorter in the Ministry, and served the Lord in many capacities including; Board of Trustees, Christian Education, Men’s Ministry, Senior Choir, Steward Board, Noonday Prayer and Buds of Promise. He worked as a Machine Operator for the former Triangle Plastic Wire and Cable in Jewett City, the former Card McDonald Dodge dealership in Norwich and later in life enjoyed being a senior volunteer assisting the elderly.

He is survived by his children; Ernie (Geraldine) Cagle of Jewett City, Bernie (Julie) Cagle of Norwich, Henry “Tweetsie” (Sharon) Cagle of Norwich, Ron Cagle of New London, George Cagle of Norwich, Mazie Augmon of Plainfield, Kenvis (Terry) Cagle of Iowa, Michael (Michelle) Cagle of Norwich, Harold Cagle of Sacramento CA, Diane Strong of Mystic, Darlene (Dwayne) Burgess of Boston, MA, Lisa Cagle of Groton, Michelle (Eugene) Brown of Norwich and Delores Cagle of Norwich. Henry is also survived by his 22 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 22nd, from 10am until the time of the Funeral Service at 11am at Evans Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, 2 McKinley Ave., Norwich, CT. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
