June 28, 1958 - September 1, 2024
Griswold, CT
On the first day of September, while surrounded by loving family, Howard Taylor was united with his mother in heaven.
Although he left this world at the young age of 66, he lived a full and accomplished life.
Howard, more commonly referred to as “Howie” by friends and family, was born in New Bern, NC to parents Ann Sheila Taylor and William Applegate.
Growing up in Brighton and Milford MA, Howie enjoyed playing football and hockey.
His love for sports carried on into his adult years where he then took pride in watching and cheering on his children and grandchildren’s sporting events.
After attending Norwich Free Academy, Howie went on to work for EB as a welder. Following that, he worked for the City of New London for 24 years. After retiring from the City, he spent the rest of his working life on the roads driving trucks for various companies.
In his spare time, Howie enjoyed riding his motorcycle, cruising in his beloved Chevelle, bowling, going to the Waterford Speedbowl, traveling, skiing, watching the Norwich Navigators, and dining out. Most of all, he enjoyed doing all of these things with family by his side.
His lovable, laid back personality allowed him to make friends with ease and left an everlasting positive impression on everyone fortunate enough to meet him.
Howie is survived by his partner Sandi Chikan. Son Christopher Carter and wife Tanya, children Triniti and Caidyn. Daughter Barbie Taylor, children Brycen and Raeanna. Daughter Autumn Taylor and partner Brian. He also leaves cousins and aunts in MA and NJ.
The funeral service will be held on Friday September 20th at 12pm at Church and Allen Funeral Home. 136 Sachem Street Norwich, CT. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Norwich.
