She was born May 16, 1936 in Merseberg, Germany daughter to the late Max and Gertrude (Sawitzki) Welzel. On February 12, 1955 in Norwich, CT she was married to Henryk Hryniewicz.He predeceased her on April 22, 2006.
Irene loved gardening, music, cooking and treasured every moment at family gatherings.
She is survived by her daughter Christine Gavitt and her husband George of Thorndike, ME, Peter Hryniewicz of Norwich, CT and Andrew Hryniewicz and his wife Cathy of North Stonington, CT. She is also survived by her four grandchildren Hamilton and Jason Gavitt, Heather ( Gavitt ) Aleo and Nick Hryniewicz and a great-grandchild Zevi Gavitt.
Her brother, Henry Welzel, her sister Hildegard Loeser predeceased her.
