

James T. Walsh Jr., of Oakdale, CT died on December 2, 2025 after a period of declining health. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia (Driscoll) Walsh.
Born in Cambridge, MA on April 4, 1939, he was the son of James T. and Mary Patricia (Daley) Walsh Sr. Jim grew up in Arlington, MA and Winchester, MA and graduated from Winchester High School in 1956. After graduation he served in the United States Air Force until 1960.
After serving in the Air Force Jim worked at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Nashua, NH for several years. He then moved with his family to Connecticut and worked as a sonar technician for the National Underwater Warfare Center in New London until his retirement in 2002. Jim cherished his family and friends, enjoyed socializing and playing cards and loved watching and talking about any and all kinds of sports. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. In his earlier years he was a baseball coach, a lector at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church and enjoyed socializing with friends and neighbors in his Oakdale Heights neighborhood.
Jim is survived by his son James Walsh and wife Jane of Narragansett, RI, daughter Mary Hillman of Oakdale and his son-in-law, Richard Latham of Norwich, England. He was the brother of Peter Walsh of Winchester, MA, Mark Walsh of Acton, MA, and Ann Marie Platt of Reading, MA. He is also survived by his grandchildren Seamus Walsh, Jack Walsh, Cate Walsh, Emma Hillman, Maya Hillman, Dylan Latham, Robyn Latham and 16 nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents, his daughter Kathleen Walsh, and his son-in-law, Charles L. Hillman.
Visitation will be held Wednesday December 10th from 9:30a – 11:30a at Church & Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem St, Norwich, CT. A Mass will follow at 12pm at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, 752 Norwich Salem Tpke., Oakdale, CT.
