John E Tefft Sr

John was born on Dec. 25, 1943 to Alfred and Ruth (Daniels) Tefft of Norwich. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Joan Tefft DeGuise.

He married the former Sandra Garrow on May 13, 1967, who survives him. He is also survived by his son, John Tefft Jr. and his wife, Janet, and his daughter, Tina Yeitz and her husband, Angelo.

He was the beloved grandfather to Joshua Tefft, his wife, Kristina, to Jayleigh Tefft, Samantha Shanaberger, her husband Kyle, and to Sonny Yeitz.

Another joy of his life was his great grandchildren, Jared Tefft, KJ Shanaberger, Rosie and Lily Shanaberger.

He was the brother of Charles and Ruth Tefft, Peter and Ginny Tefft and Almyra Hornberger and her husband Jack. He had numerous nieces and nephews.

John graduated from Norwich Regional Technical School in 1962. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force from 1962-1966. He was employed as a Patient Service Technician and then retired from Foxwoods Casino in 2004 where he worked in the casino traffic department. He was an active bowler, loved stock car racing and was an avid football and baseball fan.

A Celebration of John’s life will be held on Wednesday, Feb 3rd at 10am at Labenski Funeral Home, 107 Boswell Ave., Norwich, CT with burial immediately following at St. Joseph Cemetery in Norwich. Calling hours will be Tuesday, Feb 2nd from 6pm – 8pm at the funeral home.
