Julie Ann Zabensky, 76 of Norwich and of Groton, passed away unexpectedly February 27th, 2018, in the comfort of her home. She was born to the late Helen Godek Jeffcoat on May 23rd, 1941 in Norwich, CT. Julie was a graduate from Norwich Free Academy, the class of 1959. Julie was best known for her compassionate nature towards humanity and animals alike, with a special affinity for cats. Julie would donate her time locating homes for homeless animals. She worked for many years advocating for the elderly and disabled. A member of the Groton Senior Center, it was only natural that its fellow members gravitated to her. Julie leaves behind her loving daughter and son in law, Kimberly and Michael Turbak, of Canterbury, CT., and several nieces. Julie is predeceased by her brothers: Michael, William, and Jeffery Jeffcoat, all previously of Norwich. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Kitty Harbor, 2263 Glasco Rd., Jewett City, CT. A Visitation will be held at the Labenski Funeral Home, 107 Boswell Ave., Norwich, CT., Monday, March 5th, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Tuesday, March 6th at 9:30 AM, at the Cathedral of St. Patrick, 213 Broadway, Norwich, CT. Family and Friends are invited to meet directly at the cathedral.
