

He was born in Concord, MA on April 27, 1945 to the late Ivan and Emma (Whitney) Nelson. After completing high school he served his country for 7 years in the sub-service of the US Navy until his honorable discharge. Thereafter he worked as a Nuclear Operator at Millstone.
On July 30, 1967 he married his beloved wife Carolyn (Petherick) in Framingham, MA. Together they raised their family locally. Larry loved woodworking, cabinet making and was a true craftsman making furniture for family and friends. He and Carolyn enjoyed camping seasonally with their friends. Larry also enjoyed his time at the slots. He had a love of family which included Loki and Bibby, his “grand-labs”.
He is survived by his wife, sons James Nelson and wife Lois, Wynne Nelson and wife Linda, sister; Lois Anderson, grandson; Tyler Lawrence Nelson, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Robert and Gordon, and one sister, Thelma.
Visitation will be held Sunday, Jan 11th from 1pm – 3pm at the Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 181 Ocean Ave., New London, CT with Funeral Service to follow at 3pm. Military Honors will be rendered following the funeral service. Burial is private at the convenience of the family.
