

Baltic-Leonard M. Begin, age 71, of Baltic, passed away peacefully, at his home surrounded by his family on March 2, 2026. He was born on June 9,1954 in Rockville, Ct. to the late Claude and June (Boulet) Begin. He married the love of his life, Kim (Mitchell) Begin, on September 29, 1978, in Norwich, Ct. She survives him.
Len graduated St. Bernard’s High School in 1972. Soon after, he began his career as a residential and commercial plumber. He later went on to become a plumber/pipefitter for Local 777 and was part owner of Kenyon Mechanical. He retired in 2019 as a foreman from Harry Grodsky and Co. Inc.
Len was an avid bowler and later turned his passion to golf. For those who knew him, Len was a man of few words, but when he spoke those words were powerful. His kindness and generosity was felt by all he encountered. His wit and charm would catch your attention, his warmth and compassion would keep you engaged, and his humor and honesty would seal the deal. He will be sorely missed by anyone who crossed his path.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son Evan Mitchell Begin, his wife Brenda Karaskewski of Illinois and his adoring grandchildren, Jett Thomas Begin and Charle Anne Begin; his daughter Cara Begin Docker of Baltic; his sister Elaine Skiles and her husband George of Old Lyme; His sister-in-law, Lesley Mitchell Jones of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; his brother-in-law, Charles Mitchell and his wife Anne of Simsbury, Ct.; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. He is predeceased by siblings Alan Begin, Frank Begin and Diane Shea and parents in-laws, Charles and Anne Mitchell.
Family and friends may visit Labenski Funeral Home, 107 Boswell Ave., Norwich on (Monday, March 9th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter and Paul, 181 Elizabeth St., Norwich, on Tuesday, March 10th at 10:00 AM, Inurnment will immediately follow at St. Mary’s Mausoleum, Boswell Ave., Norwich.
