

She graduated from Norwich Free Academy, then Willimantic State Teacher's College, and began her teaching career in a one room schoolhouse in Gales Ferry. She held that position until her marriage to Edward J. Seder on August 25, 1940, and interrupted her career because married women were not allowed to teach at that time.She returned to teaching in 1956 in the Norwich public school system and retired in 1978. Over the years, she positively influenced the lives of many of her students.
Lillian was an active member of Beth Jacob Synagogue and was a two term President of the Norwich chapter of Hadassah. In addition, she enjoyed accompanying her late husband, Ed, in attending Republican political events on the local, state and national levels.
Lillian was an avid reader and excelled in all forms of needlework, but her greatest joy was when her multi-generational family gathered together at her home. She will be missed by all who knew her. Lillian’s legacy of kindness and generosity will live on through her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lillian is survived by her sons, Michael and his wife, Judith (Levin), of West Hartford, Stephen and his wife Jane (King) of Bozrah, and daughter, Joan Seder of Norwich. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer Cohen and her husband, Steven, of Farmington, Sarah Shapiro and her husband, Jonathan, of Middletown, Katherine Karon and her husband, Adam, of Newton, MA, and Andrew Seder and his wife, Rebecca (Galligan), of Quaker Hill; step-granddaughter, Julianne Weiner and her husband, Seth, of Boyds, MD; great-grandchildren Alyssa and Sasha Cohen, Lily and Ari Shapiro; step-great-grandchildren Benjamin and Bria Weiner; great-grandchildren Stephen and Max Karon, Zen, Teva and Rayla Seder. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward, grandson Joshua White Seder, and great-grandson Daya Edward Seder, sisters Ruth Berkman and Sylvia Blinderman, and brother Abraham Golub.
The family wishes to thank Lillian's caregivers who provided her with kindness, comfort, and compassionate care.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Hebrew Benevolent Cemetery #2, Route 12, Preston, CT. Shiva will be held at her home on Sunday following the funeral until 8:00 pm and on Monday from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
