

She was born in Moosup, CT on January 26, 1933 to the late Ovila and Beatrice (Turenne) LaRose. Lucille was a 1950 graduate of NFA. She married Guy P. Gignac on April 26, 1952, at Sacred Heart Church in Taftville, CT. He predeceased her in 1999. On November 4th, 2004 she married Charles E. Smith Sr. also at Sacred Heart Church in Taftville. He predeceased her in 2013.
Lucille worked as a Teacher’s Aide at Buckingham School in Norwich prior to owning and operating the Centennial Ice Cream Parlor on Boswell Avenue in Norwich next to her husband Guy’s, barber shop.
She is survived by her children; Paul A. Gignac and his wife Carole of Danielson, Wayne D. Gignac and his wife Laura of Norwich; Grandchildren; Justin Gignac and his wife Christine of Manhattan, NY, Paul Michael Gignac of Tulsa, OK, Amie (Gignac) Weekley and her husband Christopher of Griswold, Dante Gennaro of Los Angeles, CA, Marissa Gennaro of Westborough, MA and Joseph Gennaro of Norwich. Brothers; Donald LaRose of Winder, GA and Roland LaRose and his wife Barbara of Jewett City; Two stepsons; Charles E. Smith, Jr. and James A. Smith both of Norwich. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews and many loyal lifelong friends.
Besides her parents and husbands she is also predeceased by her son Brian, her brother André and many brothers & sisters-in-law.
On Saturday, July 18th a Calling Hour will be held from 9am to 10am at Labenski Funeral Home, 107 Boswell Ave., Norwich, CT followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am at Sacred Heart Church, 156 Providence St., Taftville, CT. Burial immediately following at St. Joseph Cemetery.
