Shirley L. Swaenepoel

Norwich — Shirley L. (Moore) Swaenepoel, age 82, of Norwich, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026, at Mystic Healthcare. Born on February 20, 1944, in Hampton, she was the cherished daughter of the late Elmer and Nannie (Robinson) Moore.

Shirley devoted her life to her family and found her greatest joy in the people she loved most. She shared 54 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Edward T. Swaenepoel, whose companionship and love were the center of her life. Together they built a family filled with warmth, laughter, and lasting memories.

In addition to her husband, Shirley leaves behind her loving children: Jeanie Wentworth and her husband Brent of Hampton, Virginia; David L. Roberts and his wife Nancy of Lisbon; James Roberts and his wife Margaret of Lisbon; and Thomas Roberts and his wife Maria of Norwich. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to seven grandchildren and treasured the special blessing of 13 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense happiness to her life.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Raymond Moore and Alton Moore. Shirley will be remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and the deep love she gave so freely to her family and friends. Her presence will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 21, at 12:00 PM at the State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown.
