It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Steve Andrade Rodrigues, a beloved father, son, brother, grandfather, and friend, who departed this life on July 6, 2025, at the age of 48, born and raised in Norwich, Connecticut.
Steve lived a life marked by love and devotion to family, friends and culture. He was the cherished son of (predeceased) Alirio Joao Gomes Rodrigues and survived by Audilia DeAndrade Rodrigues, a proud father to his son, Levi Tremaine Rodrigues, a beloved grandfather to his granddaughters, Delilah Rosalee Rodrigues and (predeceased) Annabella Rosé Rodrigues, and a brother to his two loving sisters, Ana Maria Rodrigues LaPlace and Marta DeAndrade Rodrigues, his two loving nephews, Corey Neil LaPlace, Jr. and Jordan Armand LaPlace, his adoring niece, Alexia Raeana Kennedy, his cherished grandniece, Caliana Rose Lindsay, and all of his beloved uncles, aunts and cousins, which there are many. He instilled in his family the values he held closest to his heart a love of music, culture, and a thirst for knowledge.
Steve was born to (predeceased) Alirio Rodrigues and Audilia Rodrigues on August 13, 1976, and was raised in a home grounded in faith, strong family values and culture, especially the Cape Verdean culture. He carried an intense love for music and culture throughout his life. He was a powerful presence in the lives of those he held close to his heart and he was always ready to give a helping hand or a thoughtful word.
Although, he did not have the opportunity to visit the country that his parents and family were born and from, Cabo Verde Islands, he had a profound love and admiration for its food, music (in particular "Ferro Gaita"), people, location, history, and of course, what his niece referred to as "Tio Steve's juice" aka Grogue of Cabo Verde Islands. Steve will always be a warm presence to all that knew him, especially those within the Cape Verdean Community.
Even though Steve has left this earthly life, his legacy will continue in the love and joy he shared, the wisdom he imparted, and the lives he helped shape. May he find peace in his final resting place.
Calling hours/visitation for Steve will be held Sunday, July 13, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Church & Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem St., Norwich, CT. A mass of christian burial will occur Monday, July 14, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Cathedral of St. Patrick, 213 Broadway, Norwich, CT followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery, 815 Boswell Ave., Norwich, CT.
