Sylvia K. Katz Welling

Sylvia was born September 17, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Pollack) Katz.

She married the love of her life, Harold Welling on June 1, 1952. He survives her.

She was a member of Beth Jacob Synagogue and was a life member of Hadassah. She was an avid fan of professional baseball and hosted many young players on the road as they worked their way up through the minor leagues. Above all else, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her husband Harold of 60 years, she is survived by her son Owen S. Welling and wife Beth, daughter Abby Welling Forstall and husband Keith, brother Warren S. Katz, and by her grandchildren Joseph Henry Welling, Grant Walton Forstall, and Adam Joseph Forstall.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, March 10, 2013 at the Church and Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem Street, Norwich, at 2 pm. Burial will follow in First Hebrew Society Cemetery in Preston.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Sylvia Welling’s memory may be made to the Beth Jacob Synagogue, Hadassah, the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
