Besides his loving mother, he is survived by a son Joey Besade and his fiancée Emily Levanti of Waterford, a son Thomas Henry Besade II of Nashville, TN and a granddaughter Laila Levanti. He also leaves behind brothers Brian Besade of Marlborough and Edward Besade of Essex Junction, VT. He is predeceased by a brother John Richard Besade.
He worked as a senior planner at Electric Boat for over 40 years and was well-respected by his peers for his abundant on the job knowledge and proactive mentality. This past year, he received his 40 year Distinguished Shipbuilder Award.
His impressive accomplishments at Electric Boat can’t begin to hold a light to the accomplishments in his personal life. He created his legacy by sharing lots of love and laughter. He will be remembered and cherished for the man, friend, son, father, and grand-father that he was. Thomas was genuine and selfless, he always put the needs of others before his own; he lived by his word and had a way of putting his love into action by pouring joy and comfort into those around him.
His sense of humor could not be matched. He was able to make anyone feel at ease, included, and comfortable by sharing funny stories and witty one liners that were as quick and smooth as his jump shot.
If you think of Thomas and would like to do something in honor of his memory, do this:
• If you see someone in need, lend them a hand
• If you’re a dad, be present
• If you think of a funny joke, share it
• If you have grandchildren, play with them until your belly hurts from laughter
• If you have dogs, spoil them
• And above all else, tell the people around you that you love them, and then show it
Calling hours will be held at the Montville Funeral Home of Church and Allen, Route 32, Uncasville, on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Diabetes Association.
