Tom graduated from Waterford High in 1978 and received his bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Westfield State College in 1982. He retired from the State of CT as a supervisor in the judicial department after 30 years of service due to his illness.
Tom enjoyed a full and active life. His love for his family was always present. Tom spent most of his free time involved in sporting activities whether it was playing a round of golf with friends, spending endless hours with his children teaching them the skills of various sports or coaching the local youth. Tom loved sharing his knowledge and skills of sports with many young adults but also felt it important to teach them life lessons as well. This philosophy brought him the respect of many. His gift of coaching always gave back more to him as he treasured the countless relationships he formed through the years.
On September 18, 1982, at St. Patrick Cathedral, he married his first love, Diane (Cymbala) Daniels. Together they raised their children in Franklin, all who survive him; Austin Daniels of St. Petersburg, Florida; Andrea Daniels of Franklin, CT and Paul Daniels of Franklin, CT. He leaves his sister and brother-in-law, Robert and Karen Skelley of Colchester and a dear friend, Tom Kelly of Groton. He was also predeceased by his mother and father-in-law, William and Lillian Cymbala.
Tom will be missed by many. He was truly humbled by the outpouring of support that was given to him and his family during his illness.
In 1994, Tom was welcomed into the Catholic Church through the RCIA program. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 23rd at 10:30am at St. Mary of The Immaculate Conception Church, Baltic, CT. Burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, November 22nd at Church & Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem St., Norwich, CT from 4pm - 8pm.
