Andrew Zenzel

Andrew Zenzel passed away in Syracuse, NY on his 98th birthday on December 8, 2025 surrounded by his family and the caring staff at The Heritage where he resided for the last four years. Andy was born in 1927 in Coaldale, PA where he lived with his beloved parents Justine and Michael and his nine brothers and sisters. Andy, not wanting to follow his father's footsteps into coal mining, joined the US Navy in 1945 prior to the end of WWII where he served on the USS Hinsdale and later on the USS Callao. After the war, Andy moved to California where he met his late wife Connie. Andy’s charm and sense of humor served him well in his long career as a salesman and professional troubleshooter. Andy was a proud Rotarian and ran numerous golf tournaments to help raise money for charity. He loved to play golf and cards and entertain family and friends on the weekends. Andy firmly believed his love for herbs and other natural remedies contributed to his long life. Andy is survived by his two daughters, Carol Zenzel (John Hahn) and Andrea Ciplickas (Dennis Ciplickas) and three grandchildren, Emily Gosier (Eric Wright) and Jonas Ciplickas and Victoria Ciplickas, and many nieces and nephews, who brought him plenty of laughter, joy and ice cream. Andy’s bright smile and infectious laughter will be forever missed by all who knew him.
