Richard A. Melloy Jr.

Rick was born on February 24, 1948 in Bethlehem, PA the son of Richard (Dick) A. and Janet (Williamson) Melloy, Sr. He grew up in Norwich and was a 1966 graduate of the Norwich High School. Rick had owned and operated the Sherburne Inn, worked for Compass Food Service out of Albany, had dabbled in car sales and most recently worked part time at Denny’s Liquor Store.

Rick is survived by his companion of many years April Graham of Norwich; sister, Linda Melloy of New York City; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Ellie Melloy III of NH, and his 2 grandchildren.

We thought we had many more months before cancer would take him, but the inevitable happened. It was just over two months since his diagnosis of small cell carcinoma. We miss him. We miss his grumpy manner. We miss his complaining. We miss his bogey golf. We miss his passion for Boston sports. We miss his voice and his phone calls with his grandson. We miss his love.

We have heard from a number of people in the past few days to relay their relationship with Rick. There has been a universal theme: his dedication to his friends and unwavering generosity.

We love him. We miss him.

To honor Rick’s wishes there will be no formal services.
