Robert L. Crane

beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. Robert (Bob) Lee Crane

was born on May 17, 1944 at home in Hamburg, New Jersey. Bob was a

resident of Norwich, NY formerly of Otego, NY. He proudly served his

country in the United States Army from 1966-1968. In his youth, he found

the forest and streams of Northern New Jersey that he loved so very much.

He caught his first trout at age four, gathered wild mushrooms and learned

the ways of the wild. He amassed an incredible knowledge of all things

green and growing. This passion for the woods carried him throughout his

life.

On July 3, 1965, Bob met the love of his life, Margaret Irene (Demarest)

Crane. They married in September of the same year and spent their lives

loving one another. Bob fathered three daughters: Leona Crane (Charlotte

ManWarren) Norwich, NY; Loretta Crane (Jerry Conklin) Sidney, NY and

Lindsey Crane (Luke Kirkham) Wales, UK; Son-in-law John Shaver, New

London, CT. Bob’s grandchildren adored him and they survive. Jason

Byrnes-Shaver (Nicole Byrnes-Shaver) Homer, NY; Gabrielle Cone (Ryan

Cone) Rochester, NY; Camryn Shaver, Norwich, NY; Kye Gareth Jones,

Leo Jones, Kieran Jones, Alessa Kirkham , Wales, UK. The memories we

have will be with us always.

Late in his life, Bob returned to the Church of his youth. He found some

peace, comfort and acceptance at City Church Norwich. A celebration of

Life will be held at 1:00 pm, on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at City Church, 97

Silver Street, Norwich. In lieu of flowers, donations Bob’s memory may be

made to City Church at the above address.
