

Born in Milbank, South Dakota on October 17, 1948, he was the son of Roy and Jessie (Miller) Kossman. Robert attended Milbank, SD schools, and when his family moved to New York in 1957, he attended the Norwich schools and graduated in 1967. He also attended the Powelston Business Institute in Syracuse.
On December 20, 1967, at the Lutheran Church in Norwich, Robert married Waneta French Kossman. They were married for 54 years.
Robert worked for the Norwich Shoe Factory, Norwich Foundry, Family Bargain Center (where he was assistant manager), CWS, construction, and Victory Markets (where he was a dock foreman).
Robert loved all animals, and loved camping, especially at his family’s camp at Lebanon Reservoir.
Robert is survived by his wife, Waneta, and daughter, Daphne Dodge of Smyrna, along with his 5 grandchildren, Brock Kossman, Tiereny Kossman, Robert Kossman III, Brent Dodge, and Courtney Dodge. He is also survived by his nieces, Laurie (Dave) Beyer of South Dakota, Lynn (Scott) Popham of South Dakota, and Sheryl (Bret) Atkins of Nebraska; two brothers-in-law, Harold (Diane) French of Sherburne, and Richard (Gail) French of Oxford. Several other nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Robert was predeceased by his parents; his son, Robert James Kossman Jr.; and his sister and brother-in-law, JoAnn Seefeldt and Arthur J. Seefeldt Jr. of South Dakota.
As Robert donated his body to science, and at his request, there will be no formal funeral service. Interment will be held at a later date in the North Norwich Cemetery.
