Rosie was born in Preston on April 3, 1928 the daughter of Linn and Elvira (Franklin) Kenyon. She lived her entire life in the Oxford area where she attended and graduated from Oxford Academy School. After her children were in school Rosie began her working career. First as a seamstress in the Norwich Knitting Mill and Crescent Factory, and was co-owner of the Shell Gas Station in Norwich with her husband Harry. She rented space at the Chenango County Office Building where she managed and prepared food at the cafeteria there. Rosie was a very familiar face at the Norwich Bowling Center where she worked for 30 years and also was employed by the Norwich City schools working in the cafeteria for 26 years. In short Rosie worked in food service for much of her life where she met and enjoyed many people over the years.
Rosie lived her entire life in the Oxford area. She had a kind familiar face, her employment brought her in contact with people young and old on a regular basis. She was a compassionate, caring lady and always had a smile on her face, but she could always speak her mind when need be. Rosie was passionate about her Bingo and a good bingo game was always in her plan, no matter how far away.
Rosie is survived by her daughters: Audrey (Ray) Krygier of McDonough, Diana (Michael) Bolton of Tenants Harbor, ME, her sister Bessie Burdick of Norwich, her brother James Kenyon of Oxford, grandchildren Daniel Krygier, Rennae Meade, Amie Cunningham, Lisa (Rich) Warren, Denise Krygier and Jennifer (Kevin) Coombs. Also surviving are 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Rosie was predeceased by her husband’s Harrison Phillips and Alfred Moreau, her son Gary Phillips, Sisters Marion Warner, Ruth Rippo, Elvira Mudge, Florence Kenyon, Alice Kenyon and brothers Linn Kenyon and Charles Kenyon.
A Memorial service for Rosie will be held at the R. J. Fahy Funeral Home on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at 1:00 pm. Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Thursday from Noon-1:00 pm. Interment will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery. Following the service a Celebration of Life for Rosie will be held at Taylor’s Country House, 297 State Highway 320, Norwich, NY 13815.
