

Mr. Griffin was a decorated Army veteran serving in World War II. He joined the army before he graduated from NHS in 1943. He landed at Normandy on the 7th of June 1944. Fought his way across France through Bastogne and wound up in the penultimate battle of WWll The Battle of the Buldge. Danny was a POW captured 3 times and escaping twice. He never talked about it until just recently. He was a very proud man. He was a letter carrier for 35 years. If you gave him a name he knew their address. Even when we were on vacation people would come up and say “Hi Danny, I know you, you were my mailman when I was a kid. He retired in 1984.
Beloved husband of the late Barbara (Kundert) McCormack Griffin; loving step-father of Joanne Lowe and her husband William of Norwood, Timothy McCormack and his wife MaryAnn of Norwood and Maureen Lawes and her husband Gordon of Utah. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Delia (Joyce) Griffin and his sister, Margaret M. Griffin.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 11th at 10:00am from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Rte. 1A), Norwood, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 547 Washington Street, Norwood. Interment with military honors will follow the Mass in Highland Cemetery, Norwood. The family will receive visitors on Friday from 4:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.
