Douglas A. McEachen of Norwood, formerly of Mission Hill passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at the age of 78. Born in Boston, MA on June 23, 1941 he was one of eight children born to the late Dougall & Mary (Leonard) McEachen.
Douglas grew up in the Mission Hill neighborhood of Boston and gradated from Mission High School. After high school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp where he proudly served his country. After his discharge from the Marines, Douglas started working as a carpenter in the Boston Carpenters Union alongside his brother Martin and their father. Together they worked on numerous projects around Boston, which included the Big Dig, Charlestown Navy Yard, Museum of Science, Millennium Towers and the Porter Square T-Station. Douglas retired as a Master Carpenter in 2004. In his retirement he cherished spending more time with his family and enjoying his favorite activities like cooking, gardening, swimming in his pool and doing the crossword puzzle in the newspaper. In his spare time he also enjoyed watching sports and was a fan of the Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins. He was a 50 year member of the Local 40 Carpenters Union.
He was the beloved husband of the late Doreen (Burke) McEachen. Loving father of Dougall McEachen & his wife Helen of Hingham and William Vincent McEachen & his wife Genilda of Falmouth. Cherished grandfather of Brian, John, Kristen and Michael. Devoted brother of Margaret Rousseau, Shirley Whall, Theresa McCann, Catherine Kanahele, Robert McEachen and the late Mary Cohen and Martin McEachen.
Due to the recent public health concern regarding COVID-19, funeral services will take place at a later date to be announced.
