Ernest Anderson Beckley passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at the age of 77. Born in Harrisburg, PA on May 28, 1942, he was the son of the late Ernest & Gladys (Anderson) Beckley. Ernest grew up in Palmer Township, PA before moving to Scarsdale, NY and graduating from Scarsdale High School. After high school he attended Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA where he graduated with a degree in History. He then went on to earn several Master’s degrees from Farleigh Dickinson University and Rutgers University. Ernest was a High School Social Studies Teacher at Spotswood High School in Spotswood, NJ for many years. At Spotswood High School, he was President of the teachers union, Chair of the Model United Nations and was awarded teacher of the year for the state of New Jersey. Ernest had a passion for the outdoors, he loved to go fishing and camping in the Rockies and Poconos. In his spare time he also enjoyed golfing.
He was the loving father of Allison Goldstein & her husband Adam of Walpole, cherished grandfather of Gavin Goldstein, and devoted brother of Thomas Beckley of PA and the late Neal Beckley.
At the request of the family, all services will be private. Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the home of Allison & Adam Goldstein in Walpole on Thursday, January 9 from 4-7PM.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances in his name may be donated to Mass Audubon Society, 208 South Great Road, Lincoln, MA 01773.
