Evelyn A. Green Barton

BARTON, Evelyn A. (Green), 81, of Norwood died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012 following a period of declining health. Born on August 9, 1931 to Robert and Florence Green in Randolph, MA. She was one of nine children four brothers and four sisters. Evelyn married Justin Barton in 1951; Justin predeceased Evelyn in 1997. Evelyn was blessed with 5 daughters and one son. Evelyn and Justin raised their children in Norwood, MA where Justin practiced law and Evelyn worked in his office as his legal secretary. When Evelyn was in her fifties she went to college where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Gerontology. She worked in that field until her retirement. When Evelyn retired she and her husband built their home in Randolph, VT where they enjoyed many years together. Evelyn was a lucky grandmother of 9, she enjoyed a special relationship with them all. She completed her journey here on earth surrounded by family and surrounded by love.

She is survived by her children, Justin C. Barton, Jr. and his wife, Ellen of Billerica, Ann Marie Sullivan and her husband, Michael Sullivan, of Essex Junction, VT, Mary and her husband, John Rau of Mansfield, Susan and her husband, Thomas Bunker of Norwood, Carol and her husband, William Franklin of Shrewsbury, Eileen and her husband Sean Maloney of South Burlington, VT. She was the sister of Margaret Dickson of Norwood, Barbara Coates of Walpole, Florence Burkett of Norwood, and the late Mary Manchester and Robert, Joseph, Coleman and Martin Green. She also leaves 9 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St. (Rt. 1-A) Norwood at 9:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Catherine of Siena Church Norwood at 10:00 AM. Interment at Highland Cemetery, Norwood. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Mon. from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
