Francis X. Gilbert

GILBERT, Francis X. age 94, of Yarmouth, formerly of Norwood Saturday, January 18.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late William and Mary (Daley) Gilbert. Francis was a graduate of Mission High School, and went on to earn his Bachelors Degree from Northeastern University. Francis served in the United States Naval Reserves. He worked for many years in the Insurance Industry. Francis was a Member of the Norwood Knights of Columbus Council 252, and the Charles River Country Club. He served for many years as a lector at St. Catherine of Siena Parish. Francis was an avid golfer and a devoted Red Sox and Patriots fan.

Francis was the beloved husband of Mary T. (McCarty) Gilbert, and the devoted father of Patricia and her husband Jack Livingstone of Cohasset, Thomas and his wife Kim of Clearwater Florida, James and his husband Michael Pollock of Windsor California, and Maureen and her husband John Shields of Hollis New Hampshire. He was the brother of Marie Fahey of Taunton and her late husband Walter, Walter and his wife Sheila of Falmouth, and the late William and his wife Mary, and John and his wife Claire. Francis was the proud grandfather of Alexander and Kyle Livingstone, Nicholas and Connor Gilbert, Erin and Jack Shields, and is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation in the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Rt. 1A) NORWOOD on Thursday, January 23, from 9:30-10:30 AM prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Catherine of Siena Parish, 547 Washington Street, Norwood, at 11 o'clock. Interment at Highland Cemetery, Norwood.
