

James Richard Feibelman, of Norwood passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday September 23, 2021 having lived a full and complete life for 94 years. Dick was born on October 21, 1926 in Yazoo City, Mississippi to Harry Emmanuel and Mary Louise (Lundergan) Feibelman. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Second World War at the age of 18 and served in Japan. After returning home, under the G.I Bill, he attended and graduated from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island with a degree in Economics. Dick married Barbara Underwood in 1954 and the couple had three children, Jane, Douglas and Martha. After moving to Norwood, he started his own business as a manufacturer’s representative for water treatment systems throughout New England which he enjoyed until retirement. Dick was an avid sailor and enjoyed many trips with family and friends. He was predeceased by his brother Frank Feibelman and his sister Ann (Feibelman) Pare. He loved them tremendously. He is survived by his beloved daughters Martha Doucette of Walpole and Jane Feibelman of Norwood, his dear grandchildren, James Feibelman, Sarah Doucette, Douglas Doucette and his wife Connie. He was honored to be the great grandfather of Ava Lynn and Lily Marie Doucette. He is also survived by his much loved nephews Peter Feibelman, Scott Feibelman and Jeffrey Underwood as well as his dear nieces Ann (Feibelman) Barkley and her husband John Barkley, Robin (Pare) Legace and Jennifer (Underwood) Renzy. He loved them all deeply. Dick bravely learned how to live fully and with tremendous grace with blindness. The family wishes to acknowledge his teacher Carol Faherty, who provided service above and beyond to him with great compassion for many years through the VA. She is considered a dear family friend. Dick was also well served by Perkins School for the Blind for many years. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Perkins School for the Blind, this also being in keeping with Dick’s wishes. A visitation will be held on Monday, September 27th from 9am to 11am immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 11am at Gillooly Funeral Home in Norwood with burial to follow at Highland Cemetery.
