Joan R. (Dower) Donovan

Born in Norwood, Joan was a graduate of Norwood High School and pursued a career in fashion after attending Academy Moderne in Boston. A truly beautiful and kind person, she loved her family and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She was an avid reader, loved to paint and was always the first on the dancefloor. Joan enjoyed her get-a-way weekends to her Cape house in South Yarmouth.

She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph P. Donovan; daughter of the late John and Agnes (Cavanas) Dower; loving mother of Jeremiah Donovan and his wife Terry of Old Saybrook, CT, Joanne D. Kale of Norwood, and the late Joseph P. Donovan, Jr. and his wife Marybeth of Walpole; cherished grandmother of Katy A. Kale and her husband Eric Adydyan of Arlington, VA, Christopher J. Kale of West Roxbury, Lotus Testa and her husband Tony of Beverly Hills, CA, Joseph P. Donovan III of Boston, Brendan R. Donovan of Walpole and Patrick T. Donovan of Walpole.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 3rd at 10:00am from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Rte. 1A), Norwood, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 547 Washington Street, Norwood. Interment will follow the Mass in Highland Cemetery, Norwood. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.
