

LEWIS, Joan L. (Hart), age 93, of Norwood, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025.
Joan was born in Brookline to the late Walter J. and Gertrude A. (Harris) Hart before making her home and raising her family in Norwood. She attended Brookline High, Chandler School for Women, and Boston State. Joan worked at the Brookline District Court for decades and enjoyed being part of the legal system.
Joan was devoted to her daughters Karen M. and her husband John Kenny, and Janet M. Lewis and her beloved grandson William L. Hunt. She shared many happy holidays with her sister Barbara Hurley and her brother the late Walter Hart and his surviving wife Patricia and their families. Over the years Joan enjoyed many joyful celebrations with extended family and friends. She was the former wife of the late William C. Lewis.
Joan was fiercely independent, well-read, and passionate about soccer and politics. She got interested in soccer to bond with her grandson, Billy, and became a life-long, enthusiastic, loud fan.
Joan also had various interests and hobbies. Arts and crafts were a huge part of her life, including drawing, painting, decorating, sewing, knitting, and woodworking. She loved to travel. In the 1950s, Joan went to Europe and explored her Irish ancestry. In later years, she traveled to Hawaii, France, Venezuela, Wales, Scotland, and England.
A Visitation will be held in the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Rt. 1A) NORWOOD on Thursday March 13, from 11:30 AM -1 PM. A Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home at 1 o'clock, followed by Interment at Highland Cemetery, Norwood.
