She was able to travel to Germany during her service and attended German language courses and learned how to ski. After her honorable discharge, Laurie relocated to San Francisco and continued to enjoy life while working in the local construction industry for over 25 years. She was proud to be involved with the rebuilding of many locations damaged in the major earthquake of 1987. Although she lived in San Francisco for many years, she was a devoted Boston sports fan and especially loved cheering the New England Patriots on to their many Super Bowl wins. She loved playing the guitar, camping with her friends, driving her motorcycle through the hilly and windy streets of San Francisco and sailing on San Francisco Bay. She eventually relocated to Florida, with her beloved dog Max, to enjoy the warm weather and retirement. She will be missed by all those who knew her, many extended family members, and her close friends in the Boston and San Francisco area.
