Linda J. (DiRoma) Topping, age 80, of Norwood, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Orlando and Genevive (Korzec) DiRoma. Linda was the beloved wife of 51 years to the late Paul R. Topping. She is survived by her children, Pamela T. O’Neill and her husband Jeffrey of Westwood, Andrea M. Doucette and her husband Dennis of Norwood, Paul J. Topping of Quincy, and her grandchildren Jamison and her fiancé Brent Darnell, Christian, and Ethan O’Neill, Madison and Jacob Doucette.
Linda was a devoted mother, wife, friend, and homemaker whose warmth, humor, and generosity deeply affected those who knew her. She had a unique way of connecting with people always caring, always engaged, and always ready with a bit of sass and honesty that made conversations with her memorable. In her younger years, she loved playing tennis, days at her backyard pool, and as a mother, she poured her energy into her family. She coached cheerleading, drove her children to countless practices, games, and events. She also had a lifelong love of food; to her, a restaurant menu was merely a suggestion, and she delighted in crafting her own creations wherever she went.
After losing her husband nine years ago, she showed remarkable resilience and continued on with strength and determination. Over the past year, she enjoyed some of the most fulfilling days of her life after moving into her new home, where she made friends, played cards, won at bingo and Rummikub, and rediscovered companionship and fun. She especially loved celebrating New Year’s Eve each year — fitting for someone who was a New Year’s baby herself as the third baby born in Boston in 1945! She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her spirit, her kindness.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather for the Visiting Hours which will be held in the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Rt. 1A), NORWOOD on Sunday, November 23, from 3-6 PM, and again on Monday from 10:30-11:30 AM, prior to the Graveside Service and Interment at Highland Cemetery, 320 Winter Street, Norwood at 12:00 PM.
In lieu of Flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in Linda’s memory to Dana Farber The Jimmy Fund, see https://danafarber.jimmyfund.org/site/Donation2?df_id=2101&mfc_pref=T&2101.donation=form1
