Maureen grew up in the small farm town of Granger Iowa. She moved to New England in her early twenties and loved living in the city. Her genuine friendliness and generosity to everyone she met was evidence that she was midwestern. She had progressive ideas and was always on the cutting edge of her industry, fashion, and music.
Maureen was passionate about her clients and her business. She was an aesthetician and owned a business in the Back Bay and was voted Best of Boston. Maureen loved to cook and mastered all types of cuisine and often invented dishes. In fact, she rarely made the same dish twice. She loved dancing and her energy was contagious. She loved animals and always had a cat and her Amazon Blue Parrot, Max by her side.
Maureen is survived by her beloved husband, Gary Alan Borders; her loving children, Jennifer Rae Sarabia of Massachusetts and Robert Michael Sarabia of New York; her brother George Comer and her eldest sister Gertrude Schultz in Arizona, Kathleen Soltis in Wisconsin and youngest sister Virginia Wren in Iowa, and her adored grandchildren, Isabella and Lilliana To and many cousins and nieces and nephews.
Services were private and were held through Gillooly Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held for friends and relatives at a later date.
