Stanley was a World War II Veteran. He was drafted into the army at 18 years of age, before graduating Medford High School. He served with the 106th division of the army, as a replacement for the Battle of the Bulge. Later, he served in the Army of Occupation, as an integral part of Operation Tally Ho. Among many medals he received, he was most proud of the Medal of Good Conduct. Upon completion of his service, Stanley returned home to finish his education.
Stanley attended Northeastern University, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and Accounting. He began his career at Rust Craft Publishers and Sylvania, then found his dream job with the DCAA, a Federal DOD Audit Agency. Stan was Project Director and senior auditor of defense contracts, with companies including Raytheon, GTE Sylvania, General Dynamics, and GE. He dedicated decades of his professional service, before retiring.
Upon graduating from Northeastern University, Stanley married the love of his life Lois (Fulgoni) LaMonica. They shared their faith, family values and their passion for dance. Stanley and Lois started their journey by making their home in Norwood, where they raised their four children, until Lois’s untimely passing from cancer, in 1979.
In the summer, Stan could always be found outside in his garden. He experimented with many types of vegetables and enjoyed sharing them with his family and neighbors. Stanley remarried in 1989, to Mary Cieslik. Upon his retirement, he was actively involved with the Sons of Italy, volunteering regularly. He and Mary enjoyed dancing and their many years of travel throughout Europe and the United States.
Stanley was a man of strong faith. He remained grateful throughout his life, for his family and the numerous friends he made. He was thankful for his many blessings and for the many people who inspired and encouraged him, along the way. He never forgot them. Most of all, Stanley wants to be remembered as an honest man.
