

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Aurora Palma Fidel on Saturday, January 20th, 2024. She was 85 years old. Beloved wife of 54 years to the late Numeriano "Aning" Fidel; mother to Josephine Fidel Del Pilar and her husband Regie; cherished grandmother to Raffi and Regina. Dearest sister to Evangeline Palma and predeceased by brothers Jose, Hernando, Oliver, Carlos, Federico, Rodolfo and Ernani Palma. She will be eternally remembered by her many nephews and nieces, relatives and friends.
Yoyi as she was fondly called, was born in Corregidor, Philippines to Federico and Josefa Palma, the youngest of 12. She graduated from the University of the Philippines – Diliman, where she earned her BS degree in Home Economics. Prior to migrating to Maryland, Yoyi enjoyed an illustrious Philippine government career serving the Department of Agriculture in various progressive capacities.
Starting life anew in the US, she worked and retired from Saint Joseph Medical Center in Towson, MD. Yoyi very much enjoyed her time in the company of friends. She participated in various community service and fundraising activities with the Knights of Columbus and its Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of the Santo Nino choir as well as the Amazing Grace prayer group. Living life to the fullest, she enjoyed dancing, traveling and shopping to name a few.
The family gives gratitude to anyone and everyone who have been a part and parcel of her journey. A life very well-lived and now, once more, reunited with her loving husband. May she forever rest in peace.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Schimunek Funeral Home, 9705 Belair RD, Nottingham, MD 21236, on Monday, January 29, 2024, from 4-9 PM, where there will be a Novena for the departed at 5:30 PM and Funeral Blessings at 6:30 PM.
