Cathy Anne Johnson entered the world on April 4th, 1946. Her arrival was happily anticipated by parents, Anna May and Albert Johnson. Her big brother, David, also welcomed her to the family. Cathy later greeted a sister, Lee, and two brothers, Don and Mark. As the family grew, Cathy also welcomed her nieces and nephews: Julie, Rebecca, and Kate Johnson (David); Tony Balsamo (Lee); Claire and Neil Johnson (Don), and Marianne and Maggie Johnson (Mark).
Cathy departed the world on October 17, 2020, leaving it just a little bit better than before. A brilliant, loving, and dynamic woman, Cathy loved many things. Most of all, she loved God and her friends and family. A highly passionate person and astute learner, she easily picked up all that she pursued.
Her creativity led her to dance, community theater, live music, sewing, and art. A keen mind directed her to political debates, loads of books, and a study of history. Her humanitarian side guided her to lead the Special Olympics with the Jaycees in Virginia, helped women through the Pregnancy Center in Dundalk, and work with the Bible Society in Baltimore. She also adopted animals in need, either finding them homes or taking them in.
Cathy will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her. The family is especially grateful for her stellar care at the end from Grand Oasis Assisted Living Facility, who treated her with dignity, love, and respect.
A viewing will be held on November 6th, 2020 at 11AM, at the Forge Road Bible Chapel, 5040 Forge Road, Perry Hall, MD 21128, followed by a service at 12PM. Cathy will be laid to rest at 1:30PM at Holly Hill Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, if you would like to donate in Cathy’s name, the family asks that donations be made to: Grand Oasis: Cathy Johnson Fund to provide recreational art services for the residents who live there.
