On May 5, 2025, Ellen “Joann” Vandevender (nee White), 82, passed away. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend who loved spending time with her family and close friends who she considered family. Joann was born on September 13, 1942. She was the daughter of the late Arnold and Bertha White.
Joann is the beloved wife of Roger Vandevender; devoted mother of Sandy Vandevender and her husband Jeff Davis, Zachary Vandevender and his cherished girlfriend Makayla Jones, and the late Dennis Vandevender; loving sister of Russell White (Dora), Richard White (Florence), and Roger White (Mary), the late Josephine Johnson, Evelyn McCrobie, Madge Bragg, Helena Lipscomb, Arnold “Buck” White, and Norma McGinnis. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Schimunek Funeral Home Inc., 9705 Belair Rd. Nottingham, MD 21236 on Thursday May 8, 2025 from 3-5 and 7-9 PM, where a Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Gardens.
