My brother, John, and I are reading our dear Aunt Gertrude's obit.  She was an amazing woman of faith and family. She resembled our mom, only different hair color! John and I remember the summer pool time fabulous dinner gatherings with our families! It was so special to have family time and fun time in the pool with amazing food prepared by Uncle Nick and Aunt Gertrude!  We admired Aunt Gertrude becoming a nurse in her later years.  She was a strong woman of faith, family, and community!  She has our heart forever!  Love, cousins Mary and John

I always looked up to you and took guidance from the amazing Mom you were to me. We had so much fun at Sunday dinners after football games and celebrating Christmas and all the other holidays and birthdays. I fondly remember how excited you were when Michael and Philip were born and what a kind, caring grandmother you were to them. As the years went on I enjoyed our continued close relationship, coming to visit you and watching old movies, eating lunch and remembering all the good times over the years. I will miss our frequent phone calls so much I can't tell you. I will miss hearing your voice. You were a joy in my life and I will think about you every day. Rest in peace Mom. I love you.

Dearest Mom,

Thank you for all the things you taught me growing up…how to tie a tie, cook, bake, sew and garden…just to name a few.  You always took time to help me with my school work and activities, and went along with all my crazy hobbies and experiments! I will always will remember the wonderful birthday cakes, dyed easter eggs, Christmas cookies,  even the ones you tried to hide from us so we wouldn’t eat them all up before Christmas parties :)  and Halloween costumes you made.  No matter what I did,  you always made me feel loved and supported. These last several years taking caring of you was a true blessing.  I got to know you better not only as a mother but as the remarkable woman you were.  I enjoyed sharing memories, your stories from long ago, and staying up late watching old movies with you. I hope I showed you how much I loved you and appreciated all you done for me over the years. Most important of all, is how showed me how to be kind, humble and generous, and how your unwavering faith in our Lord God got you through the most of difficult times.  I  know you are having fun with Janet, Nicky, Tony and Dad. I’ll treasure the day when my turn comes to see you all again! Love you mom!  Stephen. 


Whenever I was fortunate to meet or see her, she was always smiling and greeted you as though you were a member of the family. She was a very sweet woman and I pray that she is in God's hands for all eternity.

Lived next door to Mrs Gertrude when I was very young.  She would always ask me to come over to her pool. She was a lady who was nice to all the kids. She would tell Stephen not to get me wet when i came over to swim. My parents and the DePalos were friends and would get together. One thing I'd like to say is Mrs. Gertrude always was beautiful and that never changed. My prayers are with the family during this difficult time.

I have very fond memories of our vacations to Ocean City, Roanoke and New Port News Virginia and Niagara Falls.  You always made Christmas the most magical time of the year and will cherish those memories at our home on Fairdel Avenue forever.  I will never forget the many gathering with all our relatives during the Holidays and around the pool in the summer.
You were the best Mom who unconditionally loved and supported me with everything I pursued; being it playing guitar in a band, Archbishop Curley High School, through college and wherever my career would take me.
I will miss you very very much and love you always as you are a part of me. I know you are in better place in Heaven with Dad, Janet, Tony and Nick. 


I have memories of Gertrude when my husband Reid and I lived on Pan Ridge Road across the street from Tony and Linda. She was beautiful inside and out. Always happy with a smile on her face. She must be so joyful to now be with her husband, daughter and two sons. I know they welcomed her with open and loving arms. 

Our sincerest condolences to the DePalo family with the loss of their beloved Gertrude.  The peace of the Lord be with you.


It was such a blessing to meet Miss Gertrude,  I will always cherish our memories. 


Joe and I are so sorry to hear about Aunt Gertrude. Moms are the best. 

A memory I would like to share would be that when we were little our family, the Joneses would visit Uncle Nick and Aunt Gertrude at their home. They would have such nice parties outside by the pool. I was just a young swimmer at the time and always a little shy about getting in the deep end of the water. Aunt Gertrude was always so nice and would comment that wading in the pool is just as good.
