 I am from the 1965 class of Kenwood. Mr. Pallace was one of the best teachers at Kenwood.   So much so that 1965 yearbook was dedicated to him. He respected his students, he made history come alive and encouraged his students to think intellectually.  He is one person that I will never forget and will always be grateful for having in my life.

To the family of Mr. Pallace,

I am so sorry for the loss of your loved one.  I remember Mr. Pallace very well from EVT.   I adored him and the principal, Mr. Pluemer.  I regret that I found out about his passing too late to pay my respects.   My condolences to the family.  He looks just as I remember him.  With much love, Tonya

My condolences to the family of Mr. Pallace.  That is how I remember him.  He was an inspiring history teacher who cared so much about each student.  He came several times to the Kenwood Class of  '66 reunions and he was so welcomed.  He is a teacher who touched many students over the years.  May he rest in peace.

I had the honor of working as principal at Eastern Tech for the 2003 - 2007 school years.  I enjoyed the opportunity to frequently talk with Jim about the history of the school, education in general, and other philosophical points.  I am very sorry to hear about his passing, but I know that he had a positive impact on countless students and staff members during his career.  

I was fortunate to cross paths with Mr. Pallace during the early days in my career as a teacher when he was still hanging around the halls of Eastern Tech as a substitute teacher. Although, I was never one of Mr. Pallace's students in the traditional sense, he offered invaluable mentorship and guidance as I was starting out my career. I mostly learned from him that above all else, providing students with a loving and nurturing environment was most important. And that family always comes first, but your students and fellow faculty members are a close second. I am grateful to have known and worked with Mr. Pallace. 

So sorry to hear of Mr. Pallace's passing... Jimmy III, and I played little league baseball together on the Parkville Allstar team in 1972. Have very found memories of Mr Pallace, as a manager, mentor, and later as my Vice Principal at EVT, (CLASS OF 80).... He always had my back, and took a special interest in my wellbeing since our Parkville connection...... i will always remember his kindness.... my thoughts and prayers go out to Jimmy and the rest of your family..... 

To Mr. Pallace’s family I send condolences and thank you for letting us know.  His long life enabled him to touch many.  We can keep his legacy to go on as we pass on to others what he taught - to encourage young people to see other perspectives and options.
I cherished comments he wrote on my history papers (Class of 65) until adulthood.  He was a fine person.
His kindness helped a shy child become a better. 

Mr. Pallace worked at ETHS while I was there. I vividly remember his voice and laugh. He knew how to ha e a good time,  but always made sure we behaved and got our work done. Mr. Pallace loved to tell stories and would listen to us always! He was a good man!

Time moves so quickly but we shared so much together with our families.  We had a lifetime of memories and I am so thankful we were able to walk the road together with you and Jim- Our dearest friends.

I took his World History class my first year at Kenwood and was so excited when they offered his Ancient & Medieval History class for us to take.   It's hard to describe what a wonderful teacher he was.  He didn't just teach history but inspired all of us to be the best we could be.  He truly cared about his students and I believe I can speak for all when I say it was 100% reciprocated.   I was so happy when he joined Facebook and I was able to reconnect with him.   The world has lost a wonderful person and the best teacher I ever had.  I am just one of his 1964 graduates that respected and cared about him all through our lives.  To his family, please accept my deepest sympathy.

I first met Mr. Pallace as a sophomore when I took his World History class in 1964.  How fortunate I was to be in that class as not only was Mr. Pallace an amazing teacher, he also became my mentor and a lifelong friend.
It is hard to convey the extent to which he changed my life.  I remember telling him how upset I was that I would not make cheer leading because I couldn’t do a cartwheel.  His reply was not to let all that energy go to waste so I should join the Debating Team.  Oh, the memories and the personal growth!
I think the students at Kenwood who had Mr. Pallace for a teacher are the most fortunate students in the world.

During my five years as assistant principal at Eastern Technical HS, Jim Pallace became my mentor and friend. Before I left Eastern Tech to become Pikesville HS principal, I became a better administrator  because of his perspectives on student discipline and management of a school. I could always go to him for a straightforward assessment of any school situation. Our conversations were laced with his wonderful family stories, baseball analogies and Orioles lore, our mutual backgrounds as English teachers, and a healthy dose of humor and a bit of profanity. On a visit with Jim and Dorothy at their Oak Crest apartment, we had a fun afternoon of reliving many of our Eastern Tech experiences. It was as if no time had passed, and we were no longer retirees and back in our prime. RIP, dear Jim.

On behalf of the Kenwood High School Class of 1966 I would like to extend our deepest and heartfelt sympathy to the family of Mr. Palace. He was one of our class faculty advisors who followed us throughout our years at KHS and many years thereafter. He was our Teacher, Mentor but most of all our Dear Friend. May God hold and comfort his family and friends during this sad time and give them peace. We really loved the guy and he will be sorely missed by all of us.  He is smiling down on us now saying Dave get your feet off Linda's chair.

If asked who was your favorite teacher, many of us who were taught by Mr. Pallace would have no hesitation.   We loved his class - he made learning fun.  He always displayed tough love to inspire us, to push us forward not just in our studies but in the way we lived our lives and treated others.   He was never just our teacher;  he was our guide, our role model, our friend.  We loved him.

Fifty-seven years after first meeting Jim Pallace in 10th grade World History, I still feel the profound loss of a man who has a place not only in the pantheon of extraordinary teachers but that of human beings. His effect as mentor and model guided much of my life and his words to strive harder are never far from my thoughts, even after all these years. God bless you James Patrick Pallace, Jr.

Mr. Pallace was not only my assistant principal at Eastern Vo Tech class of 1989, but one of my supervisors when I began working at the school in 1990.  He was one of the sweetest people to work with, tough on the outside, gentle giant on the inside.  He loved his family and his job, and had the respect of his coworkers.  My deepest sympathies to his family, and may the memories of him bring you all comfort and peace.

Jim was my 1st REAL boss and mentor.  I worked for Jim as an Umpire for Baltimore Metro  baseball for many years. Jim kept me straight and always looked out for me.  GOD BLESS you sir, and the entire Pallace family !!

I too am a member of the Kenwood class of 1965. Mr. Pallace taught us history but also taught us about life. When doing papers in college I found myself applying  the research methods he taught us in 10th grade. He clearly influenced so many students. It was a delight to see him at our 50th reunion. 

He was what we Jews call a mensch.  May his memory be a blessing. 

My favorite memory of the 45th Class Reunion for Kenwood High School Class of 1965 💕 We gave Mr. Pallace a gift certificate for dinner for 2 at his favorite restaurant . He will be greatly missed at future class events .

Mr. Pallace was my teacher for Ancient and Medieval History and our class of 65 advisor . I really enjoyed his teaching but my fondest memories are of our class reunions. I kept in touch with him after our 45th reunion and he was always so pleased to see or hear from  “ his kids” as he called us. He was a great example to each of us and will be greatly missed. RIP Mr. Pallace , you will never be forgotten . What a blessing you were to your students  . My world is a little sadder without his presence. Sending my deepest condolences to his family .

I knew Jim through my few years teaching at Eastern Tech. He always popped in to say hello and something nice. I loved that even though he’d retired, he stayed on as a sub and truly never stopped caring about  kids and teachers. The ETHS kids always loved him too. He “got” high schoolers. My favorite “Jimism”: upon seeing a young couple kissing in the hall outside my class, he said “Save some for the weekend!” 😆

I graduated from Kenwood High School in 1967. I had Mr. Pallace for Honors World History in 10th grade. He was the most wonderful teacher. History was far from my favorite subject, but he made it fun and interesting. He had a true calling for teaching and will be missed by most, if not all, of his former students. May he rest in peace.

 Mr. Pallace was  an  assistant principal when I was a student in high school at EVT.  I have worked with him at Eastern Tech for the last 21 years. I loved sharing stories and listening to him about all of the history of the school. He just recently shared so much information with the 50th anniversary committee. Information that he knew best.   He was very dedicated to ET. He always spoke of his family and how proud he was.   He shared so many stories about his baseball days. My condolences to Jim’s family.  May he rest in peace.  

Mr. Pallace  was a great teacher. He graduated from I believe Loyola. He could have had any career he chose but he chose teaching.  Do I love history? You bet I do. The last time I saw Mr. Pallace was at the old St. Joseph Hospital where I was training for my RN  career. Mr.  Pallace, Senior was my patient.

I Graduated from Kenwood High School, Class of 65.  Mr. Pallace was an amazing advisor to all of the 865 graduates. He came to our 45th and 50th Reunions. It was the highlight of our Reunion for us and, I think, for him. May he rest in peace. He made a major impact on many young lives.

For the Class of '65, and for me personally, Mr. Pallace was an inspiration and a guiding light. He let me know adulthood and professionalism could be good things, with or without the Earl of Sandwich. Ancient, medieval, and modern - all of a piece. May peace and glory be his final rewards. Deep sympathy to his loved ones, and to the many who loved him.
