Mary C. Bannon

Mary C. Bannon, "Yia Yia", 91, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2022, at Gilchrist Hospice in Towson MD. She was born, raised, and lived in Baltimore MD for her entire life. Mary was the daughter of James and Katherine Millionie. She was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Hugh Patrick Bannon, and her loving sisters Angela and Jean. Mary spent her younger years working in her father and mother's confectionary store on Greenmount Ave. She was a proud Greek and devoted Catholic who was committed to her loving family. She enjoyed cooking her Greek meals for others and teaching her family recipes. She had a passion for volunteering in her community, including working as a teachers aide at The Shrine of the Little Flower School and Mother Mary Lange School. Mary was an avid animal lover and spent over 30 years volunteering at the National Aquarium in Baltimore. Mary is survived by her children, Hugh (Eileen) and Tom (Christina); her grandchildren, Christopher (Kristina), Tommy (Lindsay), and Jenna; her great-grandchildren, Greyson, Jameson, Reagan, and Sylvie, and many other family members and friends.

Relatives and friends will gather at Schimunek Funeral Home, Inc., 9705 Belair Rd., Nottingham MD 21236, on Thursday, November 10, 2022, from 4-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 11, 2022, 10:30 a.m. at The Shrine of the Little Flower Church, 2800 Belair Rd., Baltimore MD 21213.
